For years, Alan Rust worked in corporate marketing and purchasing for retail giants like J.C. Penney. Traveling often for his job, he enjoyed experiencing each unique local restaurant and watering hole. But the snail’s pace of corporate decision-making frustrated him.
When he realized that he could transform his great love for the Omaha food scene into a viable business, Rust jumped on the opportunity. Within six months, he expanded by purchasing an established Omaha, historical tour business. His mission? To connect people to share each community’s local stories. What sets him apart? Letting customers choose their own tour times.
Now only two years after opening, Alan has a team seven local expert tour guides for his Nebraska Tour Company and four more for his Iowa Tour Company. Both businesses offer daily guided walking tours and chauffeured tours for small, large, and corporate groups, and he recently launched self-guided tours. Both companies maintain 5 stars and raving reviews on TripAdvisor, and America Tour Company’s growth shows no signs of slowing down.
